Isiolo District

Location:                       Eastern Province
Area:                            25,605 sq km
District Headquarters:      Isiolo (450 km from Nairobi, 350 km from Nyahururu)
Population:                    115,145

Most of the district is a flat, low-lying plain, with volcanic hills to the west.  The Ewaso Nyiro that originates from Nyahururu area dissects the district into two parts.

Isiolo district is one of the least populated districts in Kenya but population growth is high as pastoralists move into the district in search of pasture.

The communities in the district include Borana, Somali, Meru and Turkana
