Sports Day

13 July, 2010

A lot of energy was needed on Saturday 19th June when the students took part in an inter-class athletics competition. We had not held such an event for some time, so it was the first opportunity for both the Form Ones and Form Twos to display their athletic ability.

The weather was good and the competitors were enthusiastic in all the races. Those who were not taking part were on hand to cheer for their classmates and to offer assistance to those who were near to collapse, especially after the longest races (5,000m for girls and 10,000m for boys).

Field events included discus for the first time, as well as javelin, shot put, high jump, long jump and triple jump.

The day ended with some more light-hearted events - a sack race, an egg and spoon race and a tug-of-war between each of the classes.

On adding up the points, two of the forms were so close that a recount was demanded - which showed that the overall winners were the Form Four class.
